I think there are multiple elements to this discussion, as indeed there are bound to be with something as broad as &#039;ECM&#039; but I think you make one outstanding point amongst a bunch of very good ones; Pie and I have discussed before that the definition of &#039;ECM 2.0&#039; can be whatever we want it to be, and most seem to pin things at the &#039;user experience&#039; end of the stack, i.e. apply &#039;web 2.0&#039; to ECM. However you note that the back end is just as important and a major factor of ECM 2.0 should be SOA. As you note via the example of EMC&#039;s second attempt at web services, SOA is itself just becoming mature, and if you want to apply information lifecycle management, or records management (retention etc) to blog postings, wiki pages, etc or RSS-ify all your content, then robust SOA&#039;d back becomes so much more important.]]></description>
